IOM Comparisons

Graham Bantock published some very interesting comparisons between leading IOM designs in Seahorse magazine of February 2009. Seahorse have granted permission for their copyrighted article to be available for download, so here it is as a PDF file.

The graphs in the original publication were necessarily of limited size. On this page I can show them in more detail.

The first image schematically illustrates the lines of each design. (As the notice says, the copyright to the originals belong to their designers, and no permission is granted here for the use of these lines for any purpose at all.)

The next series of graphs plot the four key hull properties against each other: righting arm, maximum beam, waterline beam, and wetted surface area.
