Robert Grubisa has sent me a report of the Naviga "Wolfgansee 2004"
regatta for the F-5E class, a very close cousin of the IOM.
36 participants from Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Slovenia,
USA (American sailor resident in Germany) and Croatia.
Five races in two heats sailed according to NAVIGA most simple racing system (heats for Race 1 decided by draw, then finishing position 1,3,5,7,etc are
sailing in Heat A, while 2, 4, 6, 8, etc are sailing in Heat B). Points for finishing position in heats A and B are the same. ( 1st - 1 point, 2nd - two
points, etc)
Winner - Jure Zule, SLO, IOM. Second - Robert Grubisa, CRO, IOM
Full results will be published next Sunday on the end of the Wolfgangsee radio
sailing week (20 10R and 69 Marbleheads are listed for 2004 edition of the
regatta).
I have noted during Saturday practice with certain F5E boats that they are faster downwind that my boat in top Rig 1 condition.
The fact that mentioned boats used 8 mm CF mast are part of the answer. I am
also quite sure that their keels are heavier than 2.5 kg.
